Isaiah 43:18-19
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Happy New Year! As we begin a new year, it is normal to look back at the old one. But God reminds us in this verse that perhaps we should not get too caught up in the old things. He further promises that He is going to do a new thing. A new year and a new thing from God.
What new thing are you asking God to provide in the new year? More importantly, are you trusting Him to provide what you need more than just what you want? A new year is a time to start anew in whatever area of our life we feel we might have failed. We make goals in all other areas of our lives, it makes sense that we should make goals in our spiritual life.
As we begin this new year, let us focus on what new things we need for God to do in our lives to make us be a better servant for him.
