Daily Devotion January 26
Jeremiah 5:25
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
People appear to be confused these days about sin. We need to remind ourselves that God hasn't changed His stance on right and wrong. The things that were sins in the Old Testament are sins today. When we look around our country and people wonder why things are such are mess, the answer is easy. We are so filled with sin, with confusing right and wrong, that God has no choice but to withhold blessings from us. I'm not really sure when being a person who stood up for what is right became such a terrible thing. But it has.
Until we as a nation, a state, a town, a family, a person turn away from sin and follow what we know is right, we can't expect to be fully blessed by God. It is time for us to stand up, to grow up, to be willing to be firm in our stance. If we are in a situation and have to question whether something is right or wrong, that is probably the Holy Spirit telling us what we need to know.
I don't want to miss out on God's blessings and I'm sure you feel the same way. As we go through our day, let us ask God to help us examine our hearts and to get anything out that is not pleasing to Him.
